Job overview

We’re looking for an SEO Specialist to own organic and AI visibility for Magestore. Search behavior has shifted significantly: AI-powered surfaces like Gemini, ChatGPT, and Perplexity are now a meaningful part of how buyers discover and evaluate software. This role covers both: traditional search engine optimization and generative engine optimization (GEO).

You’ll work as a channel specialist, focused on building and defending Magestore’s visibility across search and AI surfaces. You’ll report directly to the leadership team and collaborate most closely with the content team to execute on strategy.

Responsibilities

SEO and GEO strategy

  • Develop and maintain the keyword and topic strategy for Magestore, covering both transactional and informational intent
  • Build and execute a GEO strategy to get Magestore cited and recommended on AI platforms, including Gemini, ChatGPT, and similar surfaces
  • Identify and actively pursue visibility opportunities beyond the Magestore website: YouTube, Reddit, third-party directories, industry publications, community forums, and other sources that AI systems draw from
  • Monitor shifts in search and discovery behavior (both algorithmic and AI-driven) and adjust strategy accordingly

On-page and technical SEO

  • Own on-page optimization across the website: meta tags, headings, content structure, internal linking, and page-level improvements
  • Conduct regular technical SEO audits and flag issues to the development team with clear recommendations
  • Ensure content across the site is structured for AI readability: clear headings, semantic HTML, and well-organized answers to common buyer questions

Content collaboration

  • Work closely with the content team to brief, review, and optimize content for both traditional rankings and AI citation potential
  • Identify content gaps and recommend topics based on keyword research and AI answer analysis
  • Advise on content formats and structures that perform well in AI-generated responses

Link building and off-site presence

  • Plan and execute link-building campaigns targeting relevant B2B software publications and industry sites
  • Identify and actively pursue placements on third-party sites that carry authority in the Magento and retail software space and are frequently cited by AI systems
  • Manage or oversee outreach efforts, including coordination with virtual assistants when needed

Measurement and reporting

  • Track and report on organic visibility: keyword rankings, organic traffic, and Magestore’s presence in AI-generated answers across target queries
  • Provide regular performance updates to leadership, surfacing what’s working, what isn’t, and what to prioritize next

Requirements

  • At least 1.5 years of SEO experience with demonstrated results in English-speaking markets. We expect solid execution skills and the ability to contribute to strategy, with room to grow into broader ownership over time
  • B2B software background preferred: familiarity with longer sales cycles, low-volume high-value keywords, and informational content that serves buyers across the funnel
  • Awareness of GEO and AI visibility as an emerging practice: you follow how AI platforms source and surface content, and you’re willing to experiment in an area where best practices are still being defined
  • Hands-on experience with core SEO tools: Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and at least one third-party platform such as Ahrefs or Semrush
  • Working knowledge of technical SEO fundamentals: site structure, crawlability, Core Web Vitals, schema markup… enough to audit, identify issues, and work with a developer to resolve them
  • Analytical foundation: comfortable reading data, forming hypotheses, and making recommendations based on evidence
  • Sufficient written English to read and write content briefs and assess keyword intent accurately. IELTS 6.5 or above

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with the Magento, Shopify, or Adobe Commerce ecosystem
  • Experience building visibility on YouTube or community platforms (Reddit, Quora) as part of a broader search strategy
  • Experience identifying and pursuing placements on third-party sites as part of off-site SEO or digital PR
